Adding a PST File to the Offline Tree

NOTE:  Accessing offline sources on a USB drive has been known to cause issues, so we strongly advise against adding sources stored on USB drives to DigiScope.

  1. From the File Wizard, select PST File(s), and click Next >.

  2. Next, you will be prompted to select the Personal Folder (PST) files that you wish to add.  Navigate to the location of the desired Personal Folder (PST) files, select it, and click Open.

  3. A special page might be displayed next, depending on what support files your system has.

    1. If the Missing Outlook DLLs page is displayed, click here for instructions.

  4. At the end of the File Wizard, you should see a list of the PST files that will be added.

    1. (Optional) If you wish to have these PSTs automatically opened when the File Wizard exits, check the Open PST files box.

    2. (Optional) If you wish to add additional PST files, click Add and return to Step 2.

  5. Once you are satisfied with the list of PSTs, click the Finish button to end the File Wizard.

NOTE: A PST file can be added to either the Offline tree or the Production tree, but not both at the same time.  If you attempt to add a PST to one tree that is already in the other tree, DigiScope will inform you that it is not able to add the PST file a second time.  You will need to remove the PST file from whatever tree it is in before adding it to the other tree.

Adding a PST File from Windows Explorer to the Offline Tree

While it is possible to add a Personal Folder (PST) file to the Offline Tree from within DigiScope itself, you may instead add the file directly from Windows Explorer.  Doing so skips several steps of the File Wizard and so may be more convenient.

NOTE: Attempting to add too many Personal Folder (PST) files at once to DigiScope with this method can impact your computer greatly and possibly even cause it to run out of memory.  We highly recommend you not attempt to add more than 50 PST files at one time.

  1. Open Windows Explorer.

  2. Browse to the location that contains the desired Personal Folder (PST) files.

  3. Double-click a single Personal Folder (PST) file, or right-click a group of desired Personal Folder (PST) files and select Add to DigiScope.

DigiScope will launch (if it is not already running).  The Personal Folder (PST) files will be added to the Added from Windows Explorer group in the Offline Tree.
