The Offline Tree consists of data that has been archived or stored through alternative methods of backup. The data files must be added and mounted within DigiScope® before any search or data recovery actions can take place. Once a database is mounted, the desired data (mailbox, folder, item, attachments) may be restored into an active online database or exported to a Personal Folder (PST) file or Message (MSG) file. Attachments may also be restored to a directory, allowing for review with the associated native application, such as Word, Excel, Acrobat Reader, etc.
Offline sources have the following features:
They can be searched.
Their data can be exported or restored.
They are treated as static sources, i.e. they may not be modified by adding additional data.
An offline source can be any of the following:
Copies or backups of Exchange database (EDB) files.
Previously created Personal Folder (PST) files.
NOTE: DigiScope's ability to interact with offline databases may be restricted by features of the currently installed license. Please see Available License Types for more information.
NOTE: To open 64-bit Offline Exchange 2007, 2010, 2013 or 2016 databases, you must install DigiScope® on a 64-bit operating system.
