Events are the predefined conditions that can trigger an automatic e-mail notification. They fall into two categories: Scheduled Events and Job Events.
Scheduled Events: These are events an Operator can schedule to take place at one or more time prior to the maintenance job. For example, you can use the Scheduled Maintenance Outage event to notify all parties that will be affected of an upcoming maintenance job. You could set a notification using this event to fire only one time, or multiple times, e.g. 1 week, 1 day, and finally 2 hours prior to the job.
Job Events: These are notifications that are controlled by GOexchange® and will be sent at the appropriate time during a maintenance job's execution.
The events can be further subdivided by the type of e-mail addressing that they support for the notification recipients. Events intended to notify end users of maintenance actions will support any kind of recipient address. Events intended to notify system operators about the status of the server or job will only support the SMTP and SMTP Pager addresses of configured GOexchange Operators.
There are seven possible events to choose from.
Name | Type | Recipient Addressing | Details |
Exchange Now Available | Job | Any | Fires at the end of a job; can be used to inform recipients that the maintenance outage is over. See Scheduled Maintenance Outage. |
Scheduled Maintenance Outage | Scheduled | Any | Scheduled notification; can be used to notify recipients of a pending e-mail outage caused by running maintenance. See Exchange Now Available. |
Scheduled Resource Check | Scheduled | Only Operator SMTP | Performs a Resource Check; can be used to send Operators a copy of the full Resource Check report. |
Maintenance Starting | Job | Only Operator SMTP | Fires when a job starts. |
Maintenance Finished | Job | Only Operator SMTP | Fires at the end of a job; can be used to send Operators a copy of the job report. |
