Couldn’t I just write a script or batch file and utilize Microsoft’s tools to do what GOexchange does?

You certainly could make a batch file or a script  that would stop your information store, and kick off the appropriate Exchange tools. However, when you're performing operations like this against a database, it's probably something you want to monitor since each step is dependent upon the results from the previous step.

In short we haven't seen a successful script or batch file to date and most likely because of the complexity of the issues, i.e. proper steps, result codes, timing, etc. We have worked with several clients that have attempted this type of operation and for one reason or another it just simply didn't work out for them.

GOexchange contains  built in expert knowledge and processes for consistent, flawless maintenance every time.
