DigiScope:
"Because of workflow patterns and the structure of today's workplace, email has become one of the principal filing systems for corporations," stated Dianne McAdam, Director of Enterprise Information Assurance, of The Clipper Group. "As such, the need for easy, quick retrieval of lost or corrupted messages, folders and other mission-critical information 'filed' in email is critical. DigiScope's timely and efficient eDiscovery and recovery of information--online or offline--makes critical information accessible. Used in combination with a continuous backup solution like its companion program, DigiVault, DigiScope makes up-to-the-minute information retrieval a reality."

DigiVault:
"The backup paradigm, where IT departments worry about backup windows and completing incremental operations, has shifted to one of recovery time and recovery point objectives," said Brian Babineau, Senior Applications Analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group. "ESG research shows that approximately 45% of mid-tier users worry that current backup processes leave data exposed. With ever-changing applications such as Microsoft Exchange, IT departments need to increase the frequency of data protection operations to eliminate the risk of data loss. Lucid8's DigiVault enables continuous data protection for Exchange and facilitates secure backup, with additional encryption capabilities when sending older backup copies to tape."
GOexchange:
"Many companies fail to realize the amount of time and money that will be saved by implementing a Preventative Maintenance Solution for their Microsoft Exchange environment," said William Hurley, Senior Applications Analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group. "Lucid8's GOexchange is a unique, valuable and comprehensive business solution that optimizes Exchange databases while identifying and repairing database issues before they become problematic and impact smooth operations or business activity."

Digiscope:
With email becoming, more and more often, the filing system for information in addition to being its communication vehicle, the pressure to provide efficient discovery and recovery of business critical data from email stores has increased dramatically," stated David Ferris, President, Ferris Research. "IT departments across the world face the pressure of being relied upon to restore lost data--with 'to the minute' accuracy and availability. Lucid8's DigiScope searches mailboxes, messages, folders, attachments and other email elements--in live and off-line data stores--fast, shortening the time it takes to retrieve critical data that keeps today's dynamic, email-dependent companies running smoothly."
DigiVault:
"DigiVault’s continuous data protection system safeguards all DigiVault-enabled Microsoft Exchange servers within an enterprise," said Chris Williams, of Ferris Research "DigiVault saves bandwidth and storage while minimizing downtime and data loss in event of a major server incident, reducing the high cost of server outages."
GOexchange and Exchange 2007
“Exchange’s database, like any database, loses integrity over time. Archiving products promise great savings in database size and faster backups, but fail to mention that the databases do not shrink themselves,"stated Lee Benjamin, Analyst, Ferris Research "ESEUTIL and ISINTEG are powerful utilities that really need to be understood before running; failure to do so can damage the files. While many customers never use these until a disaster strikes, others swear by proactively running these advanced maintenance tools. At Microsoft’s recent TechEd 2006 conference, it was acknowledged that the updated 64bit database would still need to have maintenance run upon the information stores. Lucid8’s GOexchange product has the extensive knowledge of what can be fixed, how to do it safely, and make the process schedulable as it requires downtime. That is a huge benefit to keeping mission critical Exchange in top operating form.”
Exchange Email Archiving Needs Message Store Optimization:
"Email archiving solutions yank core data out of the database, leaving a stub behind that can be used to view or extract the data. Since 80% of the data is archived, people think the database will automatically become smaller and more efficient. Email archiving vendors encourage customers in this belief. In practice, it doesn't work that way" said David Ferris, of Ferris Research "Email archiving products do nothing to reclaim the vacated space, nor do they check and correct errors, indexes, or other issues that must be addressed to ensure the health and optimization of the message store. Administrators have to do this manually, with specialized utilities, and they have to shut down Exchange to do so. It's all a pain.
Lucid8's GOexchange is one solution to the problem. It's a useful product that compacts, checks, and corrects Exchange databases on the fly. It can also be run over archived message stores. Email archiving vendors ought to build in housekeeping capabilities like this."
GOexchange:
"GOexchange provides an automated, proactive disaster prevention and optimization system," said Chris Williams, of Ferris Research "GOexchange defragments, optimizes and verifies Exchange database integrity, fixing developing problems before they become major issues."
Enterprise System Protector: (GOexchange + DigiVault)
“Together, DigiVault™ and GOexchange provide enterprises with a mission-critical Microsoft Exchange disaster prevention, optimization, and recovery system,” said Chris Williams, of Ferris Research “The ability to automate Exchange server maintenance and continuously protect Exchange server data as it changes allows corporations to effectively minimize unplanned network downtime, data loss, and the associated costs.”

GOexchange:
Microsoft Exchange Server, like any complex database system, slowly degrades over time," said Ray Paquet, Vice President & Distinguished Analyst with Gartner Inc. "Without routine maintenance, decreasing performance, increased warnings and errors accumulate and database fragmentation transpires, leading to Exchange disasters. Given the significance of email in today's business environment, it is important that businesses proactively address server degradation before it occurs."
DigiVault:
"As e-mail continues to evolve as an important method of communication, the importance of protecting e-mail data poses a unique challenge for businesses," said Carolyn DiCenzo, Research Vice President at Gartner, Inc. "By implementing a continuous backup and recovery solution that automates this process, businesses will reduce the time to recover when an outage occurs and also reduce the amount of information lost."

"Businesses cannot afford to lose their e-mail messages, which often are considered to be official records of the company," said
Maurene Caplan Grey, Founder and Principal Analyst of
Grey Consulting.
"Traditional backups can be time-consuming. More importantly, data integrity errors may go unnoticed, or a failure affecting the mailbox server occurs between backups -- both of which means that the effected e-mail messages are corrupt or lost. A continuous backup and recovery process can provide a "safety net" in protecting the integrity of a company's e-mail messages."

GOexchange:
"Today's information worker relies on email and the telephone for nearly
all business communication and collaboration," said Mark Levitt, vice
president for Collaborative Computing at IDC. "When email goes down, so
does a worker's ability to interact with colleagues, customers and
partners. Avoiding business productivity losses by ensuring that Microsoft
Exchange Server remains up and running is what GOexchange is all about."
DigiScope:
“Today, with companies of all sizes using Microsoft Exchange Server as both a communication center and an information repository across all departments, the need for eDiscovery and recovery has greatly increased,” said Laura DuBois, Research Director for IDC. “Lucid8's DigiScope meets this need by providing simple, yet powerful searching capabilities to recover information quickly and efficiently.”

DigiScope:
"In a litigious society being able to respond quickly and efficiently to civil litigation requests for electronic-stored information, notably e-mail, is becoming increasingly important," stated David G. Hill, Principal, Mesabi Group LLC. "Therefore, software tools, such as DigiScope from Lucid8 that provide eDiscovery and granular recovery of e-mail elements are rapidly becoming essential for sound civil litigation management. But DigiScope goes a step further in that it integrates with DigiVault, a true continuous data protection system. That means that all the necessary data is available all the time, fully preserved and uncorrupted, for any litigation requirement.
And that combination may make all the difference for a business that needs a full and complete solution."

According to IT research firm META Group, close to 20 percent of unplanned Exchange downtime is due to corruption of the database or Active Directory. "It's possible to do what GOexchange does manually," said META Group analyst Matt Cain, "but you have to be a wicked smart Exchange database guy to do it properly." According to Cain, Lucid8 is alone in providing this functionality. "It's one of those rare cases where they have something unique and valuable."

"Companies often overlook their e-mail infrastructure as an area where minor adjustments can deliver significant ROI," said Rebecca Wettemann Vice President of Research for Nucleus Research. "Solutions such as Lucid8's GOexchange help Microsoft Exchange administrators reduce the time they spend supporting Exchange, lower overall IT costs and improve end user productivity by proactively managing and maintaining Exchange servers, thereby, increasing the likelihood that minor server problems are resolved before they culminate into a major disaster.

DigiScope:
"IT and Storage Systems managers are under intense pressure to be able to quickly retrieve the most current version of information, some of which may have been deleted and/or damaged," stated Michael Osterman, President, Osterman Research.. "Tools that can help them respond to that pressure effectively must be able to search on precise criteria and run detailed queries on combinations of data sources, including mailboxes and folders; and then facilitate recovery of lost, deleted and archived mailbox items. Lucid8's DigiScope is a great example of a tool that does these things, and it even can perform that search and retrieval directly from un-mounted / offline Exchange information store files without requiring time-consuming and expensive single-mailbox backups."
GOexchange:
"There are a variety of problems that reduce the uptime of Exchange environments: degraded and corrupted databases, excessive storage use, long backup windows and other difficulties," said Michael Osterman of Osterman Research. "By regularly maintaining and proactively repairing and optimizing the Exchange databases, GOexchange dramatically reduces storage requirements and improves server performance and reliability, making Exchange much more dependable."
DigiVault:
"DigiVault provides a dramatic improvement over conventional backup capabilities by continually backing up Exchange databases in real time and encrypting the data during transit and while at rest." said Michael Osterman of Osterman Research. "DigiVault also allows the creation of retention policies, helping an organization to achieve much better and more granular management of its messaging data."

"With the increasing number of regulations requiring that organizations maintain and secure all their data, it is essential that companies have a strategy and infrastructure in place to continually back up their e-mail," said Matt Anderson, senior analyst, with the Radicati Group. "Automating Exchange disaster prevention and optimization as well as providing automatic, continuous backup of e-mail is critical to maintaining mandated compliance and decreasing the impact of lost information on employee productivity and administrative costs.

"Exchange Administrators consistently tell me how complex and time consuming it is to properly manage and maintain an Exchange environment," said Arun Teneja, Founder and Senior Analyst with the Teneja Group. "However, without the proper maintenance and preventative measures, the result can be an Exchange disaster in which the losses and recovery costs can be staggering. Lucid8 provides administrators the ability to avoid disasters in the first place by implementing GOexchange."

"Companies that require the continuous ability to share information must ensure optimal uptime for their email systems" said Laura DiDio, Research Fellow with the Yankee Group. "Without regular maintenance of the Microsoft Exchange Server, organizations can experience unplanned network downtime, inefficient databases and slowed exchange access times. Automated maintenance solutions like Lucid8's GOexchange eliminate these problems, making it the perfect compliment to organizations utilizing high availability and email archiving solutions to ensure maximum performance and reliability of Microsoft Exchange Server."
